Is It Really Worth It?

How much longer will you let your fears rob you of your dreams?

Is It Really Worth It?

[Greetings from my morning walk. These beautiful views of Helsinki inspired me to write this post for you.]

Hello.

I took a great, inspiring walk and reflected on things this morning, as usual. Here is what come up for me.

In my line of work, I have the privilege to have conversations with many people every week. When you do something over and over again, you start to see patterns.

Patterns turn into insights and wisdom.

During all my years consulting mostly large companies, I rarely got the opportunity to do what I now have come to enjoy most of all - helping people break through their limitations, discover their true potential, and help them turn it into something amazing.

I get goosebumps even thinking about it….all those people who broke down at some point, only to “cross the river” and show up more robust, more resilient, calm, determined, and on a mission.

Being part of something like that is like a drug to me (not that I ever tried drugs, for that matter).

So what about all the people that don’t break through?

That’s what this post is about.

I like to think that there are two types of entrepreneurial types;

Some want to step up and be a game-changer, and they pursue it with all their enthusiasm. And, some also want it, but never get over their fears.

I believe all entrepreneurs secretly dream of doing something that matters. If you are an entrepreneur, you are in a small minority of people. You have already decided to go into business for yourself. You have faced your fears already. Be proud of that.

The people that shape the world are few.

Most people are followers, not leaders.

Most people consume, they don’t create.

And that’s fine.

But you…you are an entrepreneur. You’re already in the game.

So my question is…

Is it worth it? Is it worth letting your self-imposed, bullshit limitations rob you of your dream? Is it worth giving in to stupid emotions and facing a life of regret later?

I know, there is a risk factor.

Bills have to get paid. Of course.

Just ask yourself…

What is more important to you, playing it safe, or going after it despite it?

What is costlier?

I love playing “frame games” with myself and my clients.

A frame is just a perspective that provides a different perspective.

Here’s a frame for you.

Imagine that you are 90 years old and tired. You’re almost finished.
Your current self gets a chance to receive advice for five minutes.

What would the 90-year-old version of you tell you?

Would he or she tell you that you should keep your head down and not take any risks?
Or would he or she tell you to go for it?

Here’s how to do it.
Place you hand on your heart. Breathe a few times and close your eyes.

Feel.

What is the older you telling you?

Which one is it?

Live a life without risks and suffocate the dream?

Or go for it?

Hope this helped.
